I am going to pick up a 302 mated to a c6 for my 90 ranger 2wd. I understand that the c6 is a littler bigger than a c4 but would like to use it as it was rebuilt not long ago and comes with the 2200-2500 stall that will fit my build nicely. Is it still feesable to install the tranny and then mate the engine to it or is this a task that should be done mated as one and install both at the same time? any info is appreciated. From my search efforts I see that most put it in as a mated unit but on the flip side most v8 swaps (not specific to a c6) encourage you to mount the transmission first to center the engine.

If you have a helper then mated would be OK, if alone then yes separate would be easier to do.
In my opinion :)
