I am looking at a 302 shortblock for my ranger swap. it has a lunati .510 lift cam and arp head studs all else is factory. I am using some 351 w heads a buddy of mine is going to give me and do some mild porting myself. my question is if I go to 1.7 rockers do you think I will have valve clearance issues? Also would I need to change out pushrods? I have searched and found some threads just none specific to this set up. Thanks and God bless.

you should be ok

you should be ok I ran a .542 lift camshaft on stock pistons with a 1.7 rockers on my mustang but not stock heads. they had bigger valves 2.02. you need to make sure the spring pressure are right for the roller camshaft. to check you valve clearance you can install a head without a gasket and set up the rockers. then roll the motor over by hand. if it turns good then you know you have about .032-.035 clearance just matters how thick your gasket is.
