The other day i bought an 88 ranger with a 5.0 swap. It ran fine when I bought it so I brought it home and started driving and it died like it's not getting fuel. There is a msd electronic fuel pump mounted to the side of the frame. It work fine (I think) because I ran a direct wire from a hot wire to make the fuel pump stay on until I shut it off with a switch. The truck still died. I don't know what to do and it's really making me mad. Please help! Thank you

Fuel injected or carb'd? Maybe vaporlocking?

Welcome to TRS :)

Tell us about the engine
Fuel injected
Distributor or Coil Pack?
Manual or automatic, it can matter

One test you can do that is simple is the 50/50
Spray some gasoline or Quick Starter(ether) into the engine
Try to start it
If it starts and dies then yes, fuel is the issue.
If it doesn't start then spark is the problem.

And just have to mention it and ask, are you SURE there is gasoline in the tank, new vehicle to you so maybe gas gauge doesn't work.

It starts and runs good until it gets hot and then dies. I just found out that the fuel line running to the gas tank is plastic so I think it is getting hot a failing. I'm going to put a steal line on today and see if that works.

Fuel injection runs at 35-65psi pressure in the fuel line, so can't vapor lock, never say never but it is very very unlikely.
Old carb systems had 0psi in the fuel line near exhaust so could vapor lock.
Pressure increases the boiling point of any fluid, like rad cap does for coolant.

Shutting down after getting warm could be Coil or TFI module, I would do 50/50 test after it shuts down just to see if it is gas or spark that is the problem.

My exploder vapor locks on me from time to time but I believe I have an exhaust leak where the manifold and the y pipe connects. May be worth shining a flashlight in there just to check.
