Hey guys i have a 85 4x4 Ranger my 2.8v6 has just about took its last breath. i am looking to find a good runner maybe out of a junkyard or somewhere else close. I live in Hickory, NC so if anyone has an idea of where I could get one for a decent price. Please let me know Thanks. I would probably rebuild the one i have if i could afford the down time. But my ranger is a daily driver

go down to the pick and pull in charlotte, you could get a running one for cheap from there, maybe a warranty too

88_Eddie, thanks for the info. Do you know if they have a website or do you have an Address? I found a Place called pull-a-part in Charlotte but they don't have any Rangers in stock.

not too familiar with the 2.8, i have a 2.9

i'd think that as long as it was carb'ed it could work. but i dont know of a small v6 that ford made that could mate up to the tranny. and even if a 302 or 289 would bolt up to the tranny, i doubt it could handle the additional power

i'd stick with a 2.8 if it were me, those engines are so small you could swap it out in a day i bet. you could easily have it running in a weekend
