Hey guys, I would research it first but I'm at the junkyard and somewhat pressed for time. What manual transmissions did 89 Bronco ii's have? And is the shifter interchangable with the FM145 out of an 87broncoii? If so, that would be amazing.

If anyone needs me to find them a part, now is the time to chime in.

Never mind, they aren't. Finally found a Bii that had the FM-146. But I did get a new driveshaft in great condition for 5 bucks :) and three of the Bii's here have the 60/40 bench front seat! May be getting one of those as well.

My Bronco II has an A4LD tranny & it's out. Just wanted to know if you guys think it'd be better with a 5 spd or just go back with another A4LD

Don't bother putting in a tranny that will have to come out again way too soon. Manual all the way. The M5OD is the god of 5speeds, but I guess the FM146 is still better than an A4LD as well.

You can build an A4LD to survive. It's not cheap.

Well,
I have to chime in here and at least give some props to the A4LD. Like any auto it's how you take care of it. The one in my 87 is the factory orignal with well over 150K miles on it. But so far it's held up to everyhting I've thrown at it. Maybe i just one built buy the one guy that really cared about making a good one that day. Though as I type this it may decide to fail just to spite me.
