Has anyone done a swap with TFI to Duraspark Ignition. I am in the process of rebuilding my 2.9, and I hate that the TFI module is back by the firewall. I haven't been able to find any info on the swap so far. So I am left wondering if it can be done, or am I left with TFI? Any info would be helpful. I have a digital copy of Sven Pruett's book, How to Build and Modify Ford 60 degree V6 Engines. For $5.00, I will send you a CD with the complete book on it. Thanks

duraspark is carbed. the 2.9 is EFI.

Just move the tfi module to behind the grill. this will solve any overheating issues with it.

Yeah, you can't duraspark a 2.9. The control system is just too different. Your best bet is a TFI relocation. The 3.8 T-birds and 92 to 95 F-150s should have a nice body-mounted heat synch and extension harness that you can use to help with TFI problems.

Which one to use?

I went to the JY today to get the extension for the TFI. What my son and I found out was that the 1988 T-Bird or Cougar has the best wiring configuration. The '92-'95 trucks, have the wiring going through the main harness that passes through a plug, then goes under a power center, it continues on through the wiring harness, and splits off right before a bulkhead plug. It is a pain to get through. There are a few other years of the T-Birds and Cougars that you can use, but they are somewhat involved when it comes to pulling the wires out. Seek out the '88, you will be happier. Thanks for your info.
