Wrap a string around the pipe and mark where the end overlaps, measure that straight distance and divide by 3.1416.

^That... or press your hand over the exhaust pipe to make an impression...just make sure it's cool before you do this method...the pipe does vary as to ID and OD at various points along the system...

If this is a 2.0 or 2.3 then from the cat back the first pipe is preformed with a flange and the end of that goes to the muffler...that pipe is best bought and is fairly inexpensive...mine was 2" OD into the muffler...

Are you trying to shorten the system and do a side pipe?

And to answer your question about the tailpipe...I believe it is 1 7/8" OD (outside diameter) but the downpipe is generally 2" if it is stockand it tapers back from the muffler...the cat/muffler pipe is (on my old truck) 2" OD...

Well its just general cuz im curious and unable to post in a forum for my toyota idk why, but for my ranger i was gonna have it done with a 2 inch header back system, my toyota on the other hand i wanna do a stock sized replacement cat-back system and change the muffler theyre both 4cyl. By the way so i dont plan on going big with either because i would rather keep the mid range power that the factory and engine designers had in mind... mainly because im a so cal resident for the forseeable future
