Hi guys,

here is a mocked up picture of what the engine will look like when complete, used an older dizzy for the pic, have a billet new one to put in when time comes.

the carb is an edelbrock 600, on offy intake.

the problem i am seeing is the length of the throttle cable is 3 or so inches too long to hook up to the stock 2.8 linkage.

How have you guys run your throttle cables and is there a kit I can look into getting?

thanks

edelbrock and holley have bolt on throttle linkage adapters for Fords of different years
Basically a longer arm for the longer travel and a different cable holder to move it back farther.
You do need to make sure air cleaner doesn't come down too far and hit longer linkage

Go into autozone and get a throttle cable for a 86 Chevy Monte Carlo. It fits our gas pedal perfect and has the correct end you need and length.

On my 84 I just modified a bracket to hold the throttle linkage at the proper length from the hook up on the carb (pic has the Pro-Jection set up on it, but it worked the same). It did put a slight curl in the line, but it doesnt bind up. You can kinda see the bracket in this pic......

Hope this helps a little....

what I did was use th lockar cable and braket and the enner cabal from the ranger in place of the lokar inner cabel , use 2 warsher , 1 on each side of the fire wall. both inner cabal are the same size . keep the springe and fitting to fit the gas pedal .the cabal comes in blak or braded stainles and with all the fittings. most hotrod sopplyer have them, summit and such I have got them from orileys. they come in a few deffert lengths, you can use the lokar iner cabal but you need the hard ware from the ranger.
