Most likely no but if you get lucky you can find a truck in the jy to pillage the parts off of. Found this '89 beauty about 2 months ago :yahoo: Will be using the Sport Rider suspension parts along with the painted black frontend on my '92 2.3t 4x4 longbed :icon_hornsup:

Grabbed the front 1 3/16th inch sway bar too for my '91 2wd street truck :yahoo::yahoo:

Here's an 87 STX Highrider with a 2" body lift and leveled out with Trail Master springs. I just purchased it from the original owner in Atlanta. He ordered it in 1986.

I was reading my '89 dealer brochure and what caught my eye was that it proclaim the "Sport Rider" package to be optional on Custom & XLT models also and not only just STXs. Anyone ever come across an '89 Custom or XLT with the factory lift? That means you could have spect out a 2.3 4wd truck with the lift if you really wanted too!

thats the t-case they use on the high riders (not the stx) and they are in fact very rare to find. they were only used for a few years on certain trucks. you must have seen how rare it is for people to find the high rider ttb brackets...the t-case comes from the same truck. good find, good buy. if you dont mind me asking, did you get it for a decent price? oh and if you dont mind, please post up some pics.
The " Rare and elusive fixed yoke" Unique to the STX High rider Ranger 13-50 transfer case is NOT an "early" part...

It is in fact a retrofitted part or a "silent recall" For "Noise, Vibration & Harshness" issues...

But as rare as they are these days they are not terribly desireable.... because the 13-54 T-case which was ONLY made as a fixed yoke front output is very much a superior piece as it uses the larger U-joints instead of those little miniature U-joints of the STX front shaft.

So has anyone been able to compile a complete list of all 21 unique parts to the High Rider package?

2 pivot brackets
1 radius arm crossmember (possibly count as 2 since it unbolts in the middle)
1 pitman arm
2 front shocks
1 front swaybar
1 fix yoke 1350 t-case
1 front driveshaft for said t-case
2 longer bump stops for TTB
2 swaybar end links?

That comes out to 14 parts max. What else am I missing?

Swaybar bushing mounts [at the frame] would be different?

I thought of that too but the '89+ rangers all had the front mount sway bar setup yet they still list the same 21 unique parts as the '87-'88 trucks.

After 89 there was no factory lift available so 90+ should not have those 21 unique parts anymore. The 89 STX 4WD suspension was no longer called High Rider, it was called Sport Rider. I think they were the same if not basically the same thing though.
My 89 STX had a rear sway bar. I don't know if that is part of the unique parts. Also, if the front sway bar is listed as unique (probably larger), the bushings and mounts associated with that sway bar should also be unique.

I believe all STXs, High/Sport Riders or not and 2wds had the rear sway bar. Anyone with an '87-'88 extended cab STX can verify their truck has a rear sway bar? I'd look at the one thats down the road from me but I'm 3hrs away in a blizzard haha. My '88 GT (2wd STX) has both front and rear sway bars.

Do you think the rear axle blocks are the same between the High/Sport Riders and a regular 4wd or would they be taller to maintain the same angle of rake as a regular truck?

high rider ??

I have a '94 Ranger ext cab XLT two wheel drive. It sits about as high as a 4x4. It has 15 in wheels. I had a guy tell me it was some type of option "Hi-Rider". Haven't found anything yet. It's a great truck and rides tight. Wondering if you all knew of it. thanks

I have been told the High/Sport Rider was just a lift in the front. This kind of makes since because my STX sat level or almost appeared to sit lower in the rear. What disagrees with that is when I tried to install Bilstein shocks they were almost fully extended at normal ride height. I had to return the shocks and find a set that were specifically for a Hi-Rider suspension. I think the near full extension was at both front and rear but I was a long tome ago and I could be wrong about the rear.

Interesting thread. After reading it entirely, it appears the stx 4x4 and stx 4x4 ext cabs with the high rider/sport rider are the most desirable versions of this rare factory package. I'm curious how much one under 100,000 miles and 60-80% original, optioned out is worth? Or what it could sell for?

Secondly, what's the market like? I understand they are rare, but are people looking for them? Are these sought out for parts or restoration?

I always think it's cool to have something with all the bells n whistles and special extra stuff. I had a bunch of 60's an 70's muscle cars growing up and still have the urge to improve and personalize my vehicles.

My ranger is in the paint shop getting a fresh coat. It's the first time I've been without it for this long and I'm really missing it. Lol. Truck sick!::shout:

Was there a light/roll bar? How about tubular front/rear bumper? Graphics? Upgraded interior? I don't really know...just suggestions.
About 8 years I pulled the front suspension parts from a scrapped out high rider, but at the time didn't really know anything about them.

At the end of the day its still just another ranger. It is neat to say that it has something cool about it but its not gonna pull a crazy premium over another ranger without it. Just my two cents.
