I have a 2000 4.0 extended cab 2wd ranger, I have an 5.0 awd drivetrain out of a 99 eddie bauer. even though its a 2wd im keeping the transfer case installed for a 4x4 front end swap down the road possibly. I will not be using the explorer rear end at the moment tho. so keeping my stock rear end, and keeping the transfer case, which driveshaft would work? im assuming a 4x4 ranger driveshaft would be the correct length. or maybe even the original from the explorer. but I didn't know if my truck being an extended cab would throw it off. also where can I find a fsm for the explorer? I've been looking around and am not finding much.

You're not going to find a definite answer. Engine placement varies from swap to swap, so its hard to judge what the driveshaft length will be. There's a chance a stock ranger xcab 4x4 shaft will work. I was able to reuse both my trucks shafts from my swaps...

Oh, lol had a dumb moment. What are you looking for in the FSM, driveshaft length?

Vacuum line routing and coolant system too. There's little stuff unplugged and I wanna replace all the hoses while the engine is still out. Also found out my stock alum drive shaft is 1.5 inches too long. Im gonna get another to shorten and a 4x4 x cab too just to see if it works. Crossmember too just to be safe. I'd rather use the 1 peice aluminum one though.

All I have seen are cd's that tend not to work. I know there are pdfs for older n issans I didn't know if there was a way to get an fsm for a more recent ford.

For the sake of this post and anybody searching the correct driveshaft would be the 4x4 extended cab driveshaft. I have now sourced a 2wd drivetrain so im going another route.
