I know this isn't the right forum for this; however, I posted in "parts wanted" and have received no replies as of yet.

I'm doing an engine swap into my 87 BII 4X4 and am in DESPERATE need of a water pump pulley for a 1998 Ford Explorer w/5.0L. I'm installing the Explorer FEAD.

Have already bought one from Amazon and Ebay and I keep getting the wrong pulley. Both have sent me a 4.0L pulley while showing it also fits the 5.0L. It does not. Center hole is too small and bolt pattern is too narrow (Dorman 300-942). Local/online auto parts stores also list the 4.0L pulley, not the 5.0L one. Very strange.

Any help is appreciated.

Found the OEM part number you need, F8728509AA. Did a Google search and every place lists it as discontinued. Maybe you could find that number interchanges with a Dorman or others.

Thanks for the OEM part number.

Also, would've been nice if the junk yards around here had what I needed.

Note to self. Next time I'm at the P&P grab a spare WP pulley or two.

Was actually going to be looking for one of these soon. Though sealed up my engine was exposed to the elements for several years. Most of the belt drive pulleys have a nice layer of surface where the paint is with off. Was just going to replace them all. Since I'll be cleaning and painting the water pump pulley, suppose I might as well do them all before just replacing.

I'm thinking mask the bearings, hit with sand blaster, follow up with basic black paint. I'm figuring that I actually want paint to wear off of the belt surface and engine paint might be a little too tough?
