i am making some assumptions and i would like to have them verified.
i have a 78 lincoln small block motor. that is so old i figure it is not an HO motor. yes?
i think HO motors have a different firing order than regular motors. Yes?
my motor has flat tappets. are all roller cam motors HO motors?
my parts motor has roller tappets. can i use rollers and the push rods with the flat tappet cam?

Ho was a different camshaft that the mustangs got. Otherwise it’s the same as any other 302 basically

Roller cams in a non roller block require a special “small circle base” camshaft. The lifter bores on roller blocks are deeper then flat tappet blocks. Plus you’ll have to drill and tap the bosses in the intake valley to attach the web assembly.

Just an FYI. 78 blocks use dished pistons. So getting higher compression from those blocks will require swapping to flat top pistons. Also those heads are one of the worst designs for performance.
