Are you absolutely sure the squeal/squeak is coming from the front of the engine? I recently had the A/C compressor/dryer replaced on my 2000 Ranger with the 3.0 V6. After about a week, I started to hear an early morning squeal/squeak, and figured it was the new A/C compressors clutch. It only made the noise in the early mornings after sitting overnight, but not every morning...cooler, damp mornings seemed to make it happen more so.
Ended up being the cam position shaft/sensor, as mentioned in the link in the above post. If you have more that 80K on the engine (3.0's are common for this) and the cam position shaft/sensor has not been replaced, you are most likely due for it's replacement. Squeal/squeak noices, especially on cool or damp early morning startups, that go away after a few minutes or miles can be a symptom of this cam position shaft/sensor starting to go south on you. Get it checked, as now is the time to replace it if you are at this stage. It will get worse, and will fail, leaving you stranded, as the truck will stall and fail to restart. Some have even reported low oil/loss of oil pressure with a catistrophic failure of this part.
Expect to pay around $130.00 for the Ford motorcraft part itself. There are cheaper aftermarket ones available; be careful with their "quality", as the lower gear on some of these cheaper ones, along with the internal bearings are not good quality, and fail early. Labor to replace is up and down the charts; some have reported $200.00 to $300.00 dollars in labor costs. Shop around if you plan to have this installed by someone else. It can be done parts and labor for around $250.00 to $300.00. If you're mechanically inclined, you can do it yourself; there are lots of YouTube vids out there that show you how to do it yourself.
