Just installed a CB in my 95 Ranger, I too out the ashtray/lighter socket assembly and made a bulls**t bracket to bolt the CB in its spot, and just got 2 male connectors to plug into the old lighter sockets connector. What do you think? Its defienetly hard finding a spot for one in a 95 and up interior. Anyone else come up with something better?

is there not enough room to mount it above your right knee? I am short so there is pleanty of room. Also what about in the glove box with the speaker part mounted elsewhere. Do you need to adjust channels or does it stay on the same one all the time? I know nothing about CBs so I dont know how close you need it to be within reach

I have a plastic base that sits on the tranny hump and angles the CB up in my F-150, it also has a speaker you can hook up in the front of it.

I get a little engine noise thru the 12v power source, it is supposed to be better to run it directly from the battery. It is on my to do list that I haven't got around too.

.

Heres another idea...When i do get my cb..And i like the big Cobra not the small ones, they dont talk as far...Anyways I've never seen anybody post this way...

I have a auto tranny so i thought about taking the cupholder under the dash and sawing the back piece out behind the cup holders...sawing at an angle so the cb will fit angled at a 45 angle...

So in other words saw the back wall of the compartment behind the cupholders.....I thought that would be convienant.?

I'll try and get some pics up of some cool ways of mounting cb's in an auto truck.

^For those that have installed an Explorer full length console^

^Need Double CD Deck Holder^

^Homemade Holder^

For the ones where the ashtray is, you may have to hack up your dash to get them to fit, another idea is just mount it to the bottom of the dash and for the power just plug those into where the hot and negative wire plugs into the cig lighter then you have both cig lighter and still have the outlet for spotting or what ever you use it for, I have yet to blow a fuse that way.

I took out the ash tray (I'll never use it) and just used the cigarette lighter's power (I do kinda wish I just spliced into it rather than cut it off) for the CB power. Mine fit in the hole nicely, nice tight fit. It fit just tight enough that I didn't have to put any type of screws or anything in there to hold it down!

I'll try and get a picture up tomorrow.

Most of those installs, excluding those with custom boxes, look terrible. I can't stand exposed wires.
