I sure hope so. I think Ford is finally getting back into the Ranger. I saw one of the new 4-door global style Rangers a week ago in a Cummins service wrap. Maybe Ford gave one to the local Cummins dealership for payload testing? It didn't have the same front end as the one in the first link, but it had the same body. I hope they bring it back. It's been too long of a wait for it to come back.

It's too bad it may take them until 2018 to come out with them.

Won't be in the US LOL. The Ranger never went away completely its still built and sold in other countries, and it looks terrible I wouldn't buy one. Nothing more than an Explorer Sport Trac with a ranger emblem on it.

HAHA a 10 speed automatic transmission and still the dismal teens for fuel economy by the time they add all the emissions crap. A manual transmission option with a lower number of gears? Why? Why not have a 10 speed manual transmission too apparently its such a great idea to throw more gears at a vehicle rather than cut down on the amount of crap they put on them and choke them down with.

Ford did away with real engines and replaced them with puny 4 cylinder engines and underpowered V6 engines then try to fix that by adding turbos. No thanks. Throw in a real engine...hell put a damn V8 in the damn thing and be done with it, if people can throw V8's in the old Rangers there's no damn reason not to put one in the new "Ranger" from the factory...hell it'll get the same fuel economy as the underpowered engines they're trying to use.

Turbocharged engines do not play fair at all.

My brother's 3.5EB truck would rip my 5.4 apart either towing or racing. Hp wise it starts out within gunshot distance of where my 302 block splits in half... and averages 16mpg mixed in town and highway. Torque is on par with my dad's '96 460 but has a spectacular curve. He usually crowds 20mpg pretty hard on the highway, his best so far in a year is 22mpg... with 4.10 gears.

Don't get me wrong, if I ever get a newer '150 it will have a 5.0... I have no delusions about where ranks in the lineup though. And sadly I don't know how long they will be able to offer it either.

Mark Fields says 2 new models; he doesn't explicitly name them as Ranger and Bronco.

So, while we might hope for a smaller pickup and body on frame suv; time will tell...

And that is '18 for Focus to Mexico (which basically confirmed rumours of past 6 months); which means at least another 18 months before the a new Ranger in North America (best case).

I'll keep my real engines. That ecoboost stuff is nothing but trouble, combined with overinflated capacities it spells disaster.

Meh, my 2.8 set the bar low and still failed to reach it.

What does 'overinflated capacities' even mean? Do you mean inflated output numbers?

My guess was tow ratings.

Can't have twin turboed V6's beating up on V8's.
