I have a 98 Ranger and there's a dinger that will go off randomly without any reason. It sounds at about 1 second intervals and is a slower than the headlights on dinger. I have disconnected the one for the seatbelts and the one for when the key is in the ignition with the door open. Any help is appreciated.

Does the airbag light prove out? There is a dinger of approx 1 per second for 25 seconds on startup if the airbag light is burnt out.

I really don't know if it's burnt out or not. This dinging might start 10, 15 or 20 miles into a trip, but not at start-up.

is there a sensor to tell you that your gas cap is open? if so, it might be malfunctioning, if not, you could have a bad bulb somewhere in your dash. might have to pull it apart to find it, or you might end up on a wild goose chase. check all your fuses, check all your relays, and find out if there are any hidden ones up underneath the dash. if you have an airbag it could be not functioning at all and the ding is to tell you to get it checked out. also try connecting a scan tool up to the obd2 port and see if that tells you anything.

How are you about shutting off your turn signals when they don't auto-cancel?
