When did they get away from the tcase speed sensor. My 97 uses the tcase

No, as of 99, the vss (vehicle speed sensor) uses the rear axle tone ring used for abs (abs sensor sends signal to abs module, signal gets corrected and sent to ecu/instrument cluster - not the exact method, but for descriptive purposes). The oss (output speed sensor) is not used for the speedometer, it is used to determine slippage in automatic transmissions...Doesn't Ranger go back to transmission/transfer case OSS sensor in '01.
