Explorer rear springs in BII

Been reading and it seems that explorer springs are a direct swap other than turning the center pin upside down. The stock springs on my BII are sagging and looking pretty sorry.

When I go to the junk yard to pull some explorer springs should I be looking for any certain model? 2WD, 4WD, 2DR, 4DR, ETC....?

Thanks

4 door, 4x4. 2 door models mostly had the mono leaf. You can also use an 80's to 90's (pre 97) F150 leaf...

Great info. I didn't realize F150 would work also. I appreciate the help.

Can I expect any lift out of some Ex springs? Other than from my sagging I mean.

Depending on how much sagging you had, usually about 1 to 1.5" are seen when swapping to ex leafs, results vary. You can take some of your old leafs and shuffle them into the ex leaf pack for more lift if thats what your after. I made a 6 leaf pack using stock 96 ranger and ex leafs giving me 3.5" lift...

I'm not really after lift. Just want it back to stock height but if I get an inch or two that'll work also.

Thanks again.

My 84 B2 has the same problems, wondering if its worth the trouble. Also, if I do the leaf swap, would the vehicle need an alignment afterwards?

I'm guessing you would swap out one side at a time so an alignment wouldn't be needed as the axle would be in the same place it was before.

As long as the centering pins are in good shape in the leaf springs I don't think there's any need for an alignment.

I went the other way and softened my springs then added air shocks designed for a Ranger to add height adjustability and flex. I like the fact I can adjust my load carrying buy adding or subtracting air pressure. I also found that heavier springs will eat up standard shocks.
