I'm wanting to use an electric vacuum pump to create a negative pressure in the crankcase. The main reason is to prevent oil leaking. I want electric for ease of installation unless there is a stock pump to fit a 91 4.0l. I need high volume as well as high -ve pressure.
Any cheap sources? I've thought of the vacuum operated hubs or ac compressor but don't know enough.
TIA,

Richard

I found a couple of shurflo diaphragm pumps meant for a trailer. They are 12 volt. Would they work as a vacuum pump without burning up?

I assume the PCV valve isn't working as well as you would like?

You could use a vacuum tank with electric pump, like they use on diesels since they have no throttle plate so no vacuum.
This is a Ford unit with pressure regulator: http://www.accuratediesel.com/shop/132.html

In any case you will need to use an oil catch can when using an electric pump for crankcase, and a tank would help as well, these are usually used for vacuum controls or power brake assist on diesels, not sucking out air with oil vapor in it.

Brand new pcv and I still have a major rear seal leak. This is on my race truck. I have another engine but wanted to see if I could jury rig this motor for now.
