Hey guys, anyone know of a stronger front coil for a 90 ranger? My front tires are starting to rub on bumps from the weight I guess, I’m not looking for a huge lift but 2-3” over my saggy truck, I have a 4” lift kit but I don’t want to put it on yet haha

I obviously have more weight over stock, including the 4.0 vs the 2.9, a supercharger, the d35, the custom front bumper and winch, and some more

it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
the axle is unsprung wt....the wt of a 4.0 and super charger are not an issue.

bumpstops may have taken a dive, and th springs simply worn out.

fresh 4.0 springs and some shims may help, but your wheel offset and tire size are the problem. cut fenders....get glass fenders or lift it.

Where might I find 4.0 springs? I guess I mentioned the axle to add the fact that it doesn’t have 2.9 springs anymore.

The bumper & winch is probably what is dragging it down.
If your stock springs are in decent condition (not rusty, finish all flaking off, etc.), simple coil spacers (the type that go under the lower spring seat) should be able to offset the weight you have added to it.

Couple options here:

If your existing coils do show visible signs of aging however (or if they are not actual 4.0L Supercab coils), then I'd suggest Skyjacker #132X leveling coils as replacements. These should give around an inch (or maybe a little over) above the original stock height of your Supercab truck with the weight you have on there (and you can still add a couple washers as shims to them if needed as well).

Yeah I’ll give them a looking over, but come to think of it these coils came off of a single cab 4.0 ranger, maybe I’ll swap em out, roll the fenders a bit, call it good.

Yeah your Supercab truck is maybe 200-300lbs heavier up front than a single cab, so with your bumper & winch, that's about the same as having put two of each onto the single cab truck.

Should be easy enough to find some 4.0L Supercab coils at a wrecking yard, they seem to be the most common (well, maybe 2nd to 2.3L single cab coils).

Is there an easier way of pulling them? We’re not allowed jacks in any yard here and all they have is sketchy cherry pickers lift them.. maybe I’ll use strut compressors and yank them out..

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Do they already have the vehicles lifted and supported on something? If the wheels are dangling in the air, it shouldn't be hard to get the springs out.

The yards I go to don't allow you to bring jacks in. But there are always jacks laying around that came in with the vehicles. It's amazing what "tools" are available in junk yard if you have some imagination.

They’re somewhat lifted, the ttb usually flexes enough to sit on the ground still, they clean the jacks out, I’ve definitely made some interesting junkyard tools before lol
