So, I have had this squealing belt issue for a while now. I put on a new belt, no change. Put in new idler and tensioner pulleys, no change! Tries lubing the bearings on the pulleys, belt conditioner, a different belt, all with no change. Yesterday the belt fell off. While putting it back on I noticed that the alignment from the tensioner pulley to the harmonic balancer was way off! I then realized the pulley on the harmonic balancer had slid back about 1/2 inch! After doing some research on how to replace it, I found that a lot of other people have had the same issue. I was also having an "over heating" problem I thought was due to the thermostat housing but apparently it all started with this! While changing the thermostat housing I installed an electric fan and had no more over heating issue since, just the squealing. But where the harmonic balancer was broken, the original clutch fan was not turning as fast, nor was the water pump, causing the issue. So, if you have a belt squealing and over heating issues, check your harmonic balancer!
