96 explorer won't shift 4x4

Have 96 EB explorer 4.0L ,auto , will not shift into 4x4 , lights on dash just flashing , was working fine , stumped ?

My 96 Ranger flashed the 4x4 light a few times then stopped flashing and didn't go into 4x4.
It was a bad shift motor on the transfer case.

Not sure if the 96 has same tcase as my 94 but if it does, as Jerry said its prolly the motor. They can be fixed fairly easy and there is a good write up or two with pics. If i can do it anyone can. Do a search and good luck.
