I put a cat back on my truck with Dynomax pipes (cat to muffler and tailpipe) and a Hooker turbo muffler. I didn't really like how the Dynomax tailpipe fit from the get-go and the Hooker muffler seems to have a lot of drone from 2500-3000 RPM.

I've seen the Heartthrob duals, been thinking about buying it to get the tailpipes and resonated tips and just replacing their Y-pipe with a single in/dual out muffler of some sort. I'm thinking this would probably sound good without being too loud (I definitely don't want anything too loud, I leave for work around 6:30 AM and will be wanting to warm the truck up once it starts getting cold). Has anyone done this?

I had that kit on my Ranger for a bit, but never used the muffler tips because in the form it was sent they would have stuck out past the bumper about a foot and weigh about 30 lbs each. I dug them out of the basement a year ago and gave them to a co-worker who put one on his 2.0 Neon and it didn't sound terrible, for a Neon. It was loud and shitty, but didn't sound ricey.

Well, that's why I want to add a muffler, I know it would sound terrible as-is, but with a decent muffler the resonated tips might not be too bad. Dunno, just an idea at this point, not sure I want to drop $300 to replace the exhaust I just put on the truck.

Hey, since you had the kit, what diameter are the tailpipes?

I found out they are 2 1/4" on their website.

I also found out they sell the tailpipes separately so I ordered them and I'm going to cobble together my own system with a SI/DO muffler and some nice tips.
