I have a 1994 ford ranger 3.0, since i live in florida i have no catalytic converters (yes i removed them when they went bad..) And my whole exhaust system is shitty.

So i need to know whats the cheapest 2 inch or 2.50 inch catalytic converter that i can pass emmisions with, will i need more then one? Any information is very appreciated, im planning on moving there in a few months

Well you will probably have to get a universal one that is rated as legal for sale and use in Cali or they will kick you on the visual portion. I think Magnaflow makes one that runs around $100.

I am very confused on one part of this. Are moving to California on purpose, or has someone threatened to start killing your family if you don't?

On purpose, everyone says the same thing but i like the high desert area, its also cheaper in that area then it is here. Plus i have someone i care about there, thats really the main reason.

But do you think i should get two of the magnaflows, or do you think one will do?

My advice would be to reinstall the OEM cats back under the truck (or a similar facsimile) ( there are a pair of them in tandem), Cali regs are much tighter than elsewhere ( except for here in Ontario). A visual by the techie will be looking for both of them, the two of them are needed to meet the N0x & the C02 regs. After the cats mount whatever you feel to your liking. They are not really restrictive, the ones under my 98 are 2 1/2 in 2 1/2 out.

You must use a California-listed catalytic converter or you will not pass. This is usually advertised wherever it is sold which makes it easy, especially when buying online. Unless you have true dual exit exhaust, you will only need one.

If your EGR and O2 sensors are in questionable condition, ask people you know for a shop that "makes vehicles pass". They're out there. Run the lowest octane fuel you can find and get the engine very warm before the test.
