I got a PAC 80 amp relay rated for a continuous load on Amazon for 16 bucks. This was the final piece to the puzzle of the Taurus fan install.

Here is a rundown on parts used and their cost:

1995 3.8 Ford Taurus 2 speed Fan: $9.00
1996 Volvo 850 fan control relay: $7.00
1996 BMW thermo switch for 2 speeds (180 degrees/195 degrees): $12.00
BMW harness: $2.00
PAC 80 amp relay: $16.00
Amplifier wiring kit:$20.00
Wire loom: $8.00
3M electrical connector assortment: $8.00

Grand total: $82.00

I originally started this project when I went to replace the water pump and saw how severely cracked my factory fan was. A new fan was going to be 28 dollars at Autozone, and I was set to buy that. Then Rick (RangerSVT) suggested I look into the Taurus fan upgrade. I am quite pleased with the results so far, especially considering I only had to get into it another 54 dollars to make the upgrade. I've only driven it to work twice though, and the hottest it got was around 80 degrees. It will get the real torture test in a few weeks.

MOAR PICS!!!!!

Got the underhood cleaned up finally! I didn't clean the outside because it has been raining off and on all day.

Thanks James. I have a lot of fun in it. I am very impressed with the abuse this thing has taken. The bottom end is 100% untouched and has 185,000ish miles on it. It still runs like a top.

In my 15th year of owning it, I painted her. I am really starting to contemplate the 20th, and I think a motor is in order.

I got around to completing my power steering to manual steering conversion finally. I installed a Flaming River rack, as well as their solid steering shaft (no rag joint). Just a note that the Flaming River racks have shorter inner tie rod ends.... and I set out to compensate for that by trying to find a stock outer that was longer. I had read that the Mark VII had longer outer years back. The SN95 does have longer ones, but have a metric thread. Anyway......

Here is a Mark VII tie rod (right) and Mustang tie rod (left) side by side. The Mustang tie rod may actually be just a smidgen longer.

Flaming River Rack installed. I used Energy Suspension Black bushings. Also used rack pins out of an 03 Cobra. Front and rear seals are both leaking like a b17c4.

Here is the thread engagement on the drivers side. You can see this side has almost complete the thread engagement.

Now passenger side. It engages all but about 1/2 inch of the threads.

And here is the Flaming River shaft. I had to cut about an inch out of the center section time make it fit. I thought it was weird because this had already been installed in a 93.

And now for the reason the project was started. Every time I turned left, this boot would piss power steering fluid. You can see a drip forming on the boot in the pic. What a Sorry excuse for a boot it is too.

Nice fox you got their, really clean. I just sold my 88 Gt to buy either another fox or a ranger (leaning towards a ranger, hence the reason I'm on TRS lol). My car was pretty stock, just intake/exhaust, and MAF converted with a 75mm Pro-m maf meter. I haven't read much of your build but it looks like you're pretty much running an explorer top end, but your upper intake is begging for some boost lol.

I kind of lost interest in my fox after a tree fell on it and I rode in my buddies car, lx hatch with a TFS top end and a 70mm turbo on 12 lbs. Put down 510+ rwhp and it pulls HARD. I figured, being a broke college kid, I might as well get a good DD that I wouldn't be constantly wanting to mod.

What are your goals with the car? Reading above it looks like you're looking into a motor eventually. If you want to boost it eventually, I would skip the 8.2 deck motors and go with a 9.5 deck (351w based motors). Those block seem to handle 800+ just fine, especially the older blocks circa 1969/70. I think a big downfall of the fox was the weak, 2 bolt stock block, which likes to break around 500rwhp. Although, my buddies turbo car is actually just running a junkyard explorer bottom end lol, has hyper pistons to boot lol. He is even on a stock t5, although he is throwing in a t56 over winter. Damn, now I want another fox lol.

It's been a while! Still got the old girl.... still looks about the same, but A LOT on the horizon. I've got a five lug conversion for it, upgrading the front brakes to New Edge style setup. Also have a set of Cobra R wheels and brand new tires sitting in the shop right now...... about 10 feet from those sits a 351 Windsor. I bought a 351 out of a 96 F250, and have stripped it down the the short block. Going to send it in to the machine shop over the winter, and will have it ready to go for the spring if all goes as planned. Going with a Comp Cams XE274HR cam, 1.7 roller rockers, Flotek Intake Runner 180cc/Exhaust Runner 68cc heads with 58cc combustion chambers. 1.94 intake, and 1.54 exhaust. I have a Lightning GT40 lower which will become a pair with my Downs Ford GT40 upper.

Should be a blast. Here's a couple of photos.

Glad to see you are still out there!

Looks like a nice powertrain upgrade.

Gotta be honest, kinda mixed on the 5 lug conversion. Your wheels on that nice of a car are so timeless. They just go together.

Good to see you around again!

351, Heads, Headers, 5 Lug, and to top it off Cobra R wheels. Awesome!

Shane! I thought the terrorists got you.

Talk to me about the 5-lug conversion. I picked up a 92 earlier this year for the wife, and the only thing I genuinely dislike is the wheels. And the trailer park camo.

SN95 hubs on the front and two Ranger right side shafts in the rear will get you 5 lug.
