I have an 1986 Ford Ranger 4x4 6 cylinder FI with dual tanks. I have what I think are multiple issues but related. This may take a minute. The truck sat for a while waiting on a new clutch, pressure plate, etc. After having them installed I drove to the gas station and filled both tanks and started driving with the front tank on. Things were fine for a couple of days and then my gas gauge quit working. I tried switching to the rear tank with no success. It was while driving home that I found my turn signals had quit too. Pulling my Chilton's manual I found the turn signal/back-up lights fuse (#5) and replaced it. Turn signals came back and so did the gas gauge and front rear selection of tanks. The manual says there is a fuse for the tank selector (#15) but there are no connections on the block. So I believe my turn signal/back-up light fuse is where my tank selector is connected. I have also noticed that when the turn signal is on the RPM's drop when the light flashes. The really bad issue is when I try to put the truck in reverse the engine goes totally dead. Won't crank if in reverse either. Put it in any forward gear and it is fine unless I need to indicate a turn and then the engine stumbles. I am the second owner so I have no way of know if the dual tanks are a factory or dealer installed. ANY help or ideas will be much appreciated. This is a fun little truck to drive but sometimes I need to turn or back up. LOL
