Good morning all...question concerning removing the crankshhaft pulley on a 1996 Ranger. How? Ok, I know that if you remove the bolt, then it should slide right off...well, basic principle that it. Yesterday, I pulled everything off the engine to change the timing belt, and was down to the crankshaft pulley and could not get it off. The slide hammer is of no use, and I even tried a three prong 5 ton puller, no success. I would assume that this thing is seized up on the crank...any thoughts??? I did soak both the front and back sides of the crank pulley with WD-40 in the event that heat, vibration and WD would finally get it to break loose. I figure at this point I have about 10K left on the timing belt, so changing it now for me I consider a must. I tend to like my rides running...maybe it's just me...
Secondly, I have developed a intermittent air leak, ticking sound. I am at this point looking towards the intake gasket letting go. Under load, it speeds up, and occasionally you get a chirp from it. During this point, I am also replacing plugs, wires, timing belt, serpentine belt, etc. Your average tune up stuff. Gotta love it.
