Hey Hey,

I'm a newb to towing and have been looking at enclosed trailers.

Seems like my max tow weight is around 3,000 LB.

I'm eying an enclosed 6' x 10' trailer with GVW 1200 pounds, max 3,000LB axle.

Seems like a rough fit - is this the biggest trailer I could reasonably handle?

Also, it seems like not all trailers around this size have brakes. Should I definitely hold out for brakes, or is that not an issue at this weight?

I'm looking at an earlier year of this fella: http://www.croppersllc.com/2014_Continental Cargo_6 x 10 Tailwind Model TW610SA_207071137.veh

Thanks!

I tow an enclosed trailer that holds my race car. I built the enclosure to be low profile so it would be lower than my shell to reduce air drag. The combined towing weight is around 3500 lbs. I installed an axle with brakes and highly recommend trailer brakes for anything even near this weight. You might be able to get by with towing a total of 2,000 lbs but trailer brakes would still be good for that weight.

I also carry about 800 lbs of gear on the bed also and the engine handles that and the loaded trailer just fine. I use air bag helper springs on the rear axle and that keep the truck level and stable at speed. I typically cruise around 72 mph safely. It is done much more comfortably in states that it is legal.
