The spout connector on my 87 2.3 Ranger is badly burned. What is the easiest way to repair - other than buying a new one? It seems as though the pull out is just there to short both wires. Can it be fixed by attaching a connector to each wire and then connect both ends? If not, does anyone have a part number?

If you are referring to the spout connector/jumper removed to set static timing, you can replace it with any electric jumper of your choice. I had one that was gnawed by critters and had enough wire left to install a removable jumper using crimp-on connectors.
Just make sure it cannot be shorted to the intake, engine, or anything else as that would ground the signal, I think.

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
I had a customers car come in that the spout connector was replaced with a toggle switch.
Anything that can make and break a connection will work.

Thanks for the quick response. Info very helpful. Never thought of a toggle switch. I'll be certain to insulate the connection to avoid any possibility of an accidental grounding.
