Thank you!

So I was doing some research on these poppet Schrader valves on the hi side.

There actually is a company called Schrader International, they have specifications and photos of this Schrader valve, it is not a ball, it is a half round poppet on a stem.

To confirm my suspicions, this valve is used for high flow of refrigerant charging on production line manufacturing, in this case automotive.

Even though you can, this port not for pressure testing. For one thing it's in the wrong location, it's on the compressor discharge, usually the high side service access is on the after side of the condenser which would be the line going to the orifice and evaporator.

Example, when I was charging the system in the very hot sun in my backyard the other day to get anywhere near evaporating pressures of 30-50 lbs, the discharge high pressure was hitting 300 plus. That would scare most novices.

Joy is fleeting at best! Refrigerant leaked out already. I ordered the condenser and all new hoses today should be here in a few days, I can't drive a truck without air conditioning, hell I use it nearly all year round! (Thank you global warming)

By time these get installed summer will be over lol
Noticed, the hose parts seem "soft" nothing at all like older hose sets.

My credo
If it's not broken Don't Fix It!
If it wasn't for the fact the pump works I'd say replace it and call the system brand new. :icon_rofl:

That may happen too lol it is pumping like a champ, but if it has a leaky seal I'll get it rebuilt one. Good news is the refrigerant lines are not very expensive, and it's on the only way to get rid of the poppet schrader valve on the discharge line.
