There is one fusible link that could cause it and teh wire color is blk/org. It is " fusible link C " , it is a 14 GA green. It runs from the battery to the alt.

do you have a wiring diagram by chance?

Is the green and blue the color if wire or fuseable link?

To test it, disconnect the 2 blk/org wires from the back of the alt. Run a jumper wire from the positive terminal of the batt to them. If everything works that's it.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
on the drivers side there is a spade terminal the black and orange wire connects with near the headlight harness. i have seen these age bad and peel back a bit and short out on the cc mount. then they blow the fuse link. if you have a cb/big stereo ect running off the interior block look at all that shit too.

I found the problem. Thanks for all your help!

The Black/Orange wire comes to the starter relay via the harness that comes from the headlight area. It has 3 wires in the wiring harness; 2 that go onto the same post with the battery cable, and 1 that is the push on red wire. The Black/Orange wire turns into a solid Orange 14AWG wire after the fuse link. The Orange wire had multiple spots that had aged really bad like Bobby said and broke into. I don't see how this didn't happen sooner. I could pull the copper apart. I trimmed the wire back to where there was some good Orange wire left and spliced onto it; it was about 3/8" from the fuseable link. I will retape it all up tomorrow. I have already taken off work, so that wont be a problem.

I can sort out other electrical items tomorrow as well. I am going to try to get rid of as much of the stock alternator wiring as possible; the more excess wiring that is there is just another chance for something else to happen!

No problem. Glad you got it fixed. And a day off from work to boot.
