Hello,

I would LOVE to switch out my 3-piece sliding rear window for the 4-piece I know some rangers had. I have a 2003 extended cab. My motivation? Being able to crawl from the cab to my cap and back, which is now impossible with the current tiny opening.

I've referenced this post, which indicates an extended cab rear window from any year will fit my truck, and a regular cab window from 98+ will fit.

I have a source for a 4-piece window pulled from a ranger. I just don't know which model or year ranger it came from. Can anyone tell me what model years came equipped with four-piece glass, or provide any other helpful tips?

You would have to be an itty bitty little bugger to crawl in my four piece rear window. :icon_thumby:

Four piece seems more common in older trucks.

I'm guessing that's an regular cab, 85ranger? Kinda what I was afraid of. And you're right, that opening looks smaller than I thought it was. Thanks for the pic! My cap has a 4-piece opening, and I know from eyeballing it I could crawl through it. Lol, although maybe I should take the cap off and actually try.

My 88 extended cab had one. I could get at least part way through it, but I'm pretty damn skinny and was skinnier then.

is it bad that I can fit through my four piece rear window on my ranger without a problem? (I've actually kinda jumped through it to keep my truck from rolling into a pond, popped outta gear)
and I made 15 bucks crawling through the rear slider of a dodge dakota (they didn't believe I could fit. lol)
Gotta love being skinny :D:D

Yeah, they didn't make extended cabs until '86.

It would flex and destroy whatever work he did. Had a friend that ported a sub box from the cab into the bed, it flexed and tore a hole in the setup.

Sorry to sound like a dink, but how is it easier to crawl through two windows than to just open the door and walk to the back of the truck? Even if you are stuck in the deep mud - that's what boots are for!

Could be useful if he's out with a lady friend, they get busted and need to make a quick getaway.... :dunno:

I would bust out the glass trying to get my shoulders through... would be a lot quicker to jump over the bed and dash for the regular cab door.

He's the canopy on, so he'd probably have to flip up the lid, drop the tailgate, hop out, go around and get to the door.... Yeah that'd probably still be quicker than going through the slider. :dunno:

My credo
Fortune Favors the Brave
they all had a bigger(ext cab) window since 98+. it basically goes all the way to the bed lline, so yes u could crawl on that one.
i say u should look for a 98+ reg cab slidding window, ive seen alot of reg cabs had the 4 piece. mine being one.
