Did I get the right transmission fluid?

I have a 2006 3.0 5spd. I went to piston ring and asked for transmision fluid and he gave me Mobil atf d/m fta d/m. just wanted to make sure this is correct before i put it in

Yes, Ford M5OD manual transmissions use ATF(automatic transmission fluid)

Does it say on the bottle something to the effect of: "For applications that require Dexron III / Mercon automatic trans fluid", along with: "Not for use in applications that require Mercon V fluid"?

If so, then you have the correct stuff. :icon_thumby:

May be wrong, but don't the newer models spec Mercon V for the trans?

Newer everything specs Merc V because the original stuff was discontinued and V is supposed to be backwards compatible, but many people report shifting issues when using V.

2008 & later specifies Mercon-V for the M5OD.

Edit:
Looking back at the OP, he simply stated "5spd"... Perhaps we should make sure he indeed meant the stickshift, and not the 5-speed automatic...

The auto actually does spec Merc V as far back as 1997 I think.
