Hey all I'm not sure if this is the right section so mods feel free to move if it is not. Long story short I am trying to find all the ground locations for my 1996 5.0L AWD Explorer. I'm having some weird electrical issues and want to make sure I've cleaned or replaced every ground.

Does anyone have the locations of every ground on my truck? I've already found 2 missing body to frame grounds and a pretty shady looking engine to firewall ground. I'm guessing there could be more because I am still having issues.

TIA.

Welcome to TRS :)

You will need to get a 1996 Explorer EVTM (electrical vacuum trouble shooting manual)
It is year specific, so '95 or '97 might be similar but not exact.
These cover all options for that year, engines and power options

Google: 1996 explorer EVTM
Usually found on ebay but some are available as downloads, about $20

Main Grounds are battery to engine, engine to firewall, engine to frame
Battery to Rad support, rad support to fender

Loose engine to firewall ground strap causes all sorts of cab electrics issues, this ground strap is usually located on back of drivers side head, and can be left off or damaged after engine work.

I was hoping someone may have a list of the ground somewhere so I didn't have to get the book. I have a Ford service manual for a 2000 Explorer which should be very similar. Would the exact ground locations be in there somewhere? I see the ground numbers and locations but I don't know where to find a list to be sure I am seeing all grounds.

In other words I can go in and see ground locations if I type in a specific ground number ex G101, but I don't know how many grounds there are, or all the numbers I should be looking up.

I don't think Ford ever listed ALL ground locations for any vehicle as a separate document.

General trouble shooting for an electrical device would show a high ohm ground(bad) and then looking up that circuit in an EVTM would show its ground number and then location from that number.

So not sure what you are asking for exists, although I am often wrong :)

There is a list for all the grounds. It is in the EVTM, under the component location listing at the end of the book. The listing is on the page(s) that tells where they are found in the chart.

This is what I have to find. My truck is a thoroughly used northeast truck and she's seen better days. I'm pretty convinced every ground that used to exist under my truck is gone.
