Hello! Yesterday I bought a 1990 XLT Extend cab Ranger 2.9L and now the fun begins.

Bad news is the truck needs a lot of work. The god news is I have a healthy budget to do it.

Questions:

1. Has anyone installed dual gas tanks from a Gen 1 Ranger into a Gen 2 (1989-1992) ?

2. The dash is shot. Any source for a replacement dash or do I try to repair and paint it?

3. My Ranger has 14" rims. I want to change them to 15" and install the biggest All Terrain tires that will fit. Recomendations?

Thanks !

Tony

a b2 tank tank will hang way too low on a 2wd ranger. I didn't make my truck dual tanks, but I put a rear tank in and took out the front tank. Problem with the rear tanks is they are hard to find, can't buy them new, along with the sending unit. Another problem is they don't read right with the 2nd gen fuel gauge. When my tank is 1/2 full is reads empty, then when the tank is empty the gauge reads 1/2 full lol. So the ohms need changed on the sender, which is something I don't know how to do unfortunately.

The other problem with the factory aux tank is that it is really small, only 13 gallons.

There are other issues why a bronco2 tank will not fit.

1) the tank interferes with the drivers side upper shock mount
2) there is a "bulge" in the top of the tank that interferes with one of the deck support
box tubes welded to the underside of the bed deck,
3) the filler tube location in the Bronco2 tank directly faces
the middle left bed bolt

That should be enough to stop even the most determined and gifted of you from installing a Bronco2 tank in the back of a 6'bed ranger (Suoercab or not).

It certainly stopped me... I went another way...
