Camshaft position sensor P0340

I did replace the entire unit several years back but got a p0340 this morning. Thinking I may need to replace the plastics sensor portion I notied that the plastics sensor swivels on the spline unit. I removed the blacke sensor and see that the top part of the spline does indeed turn.

Is this not a good sign for me?

Looking closely, it appears that the nut holding the spline in place was very loose causing the unit to move. Now I need to figure out the correct position before tightening everything down.
