anybody out there have a 4.0 they want to get rid of? im tired of getting driven around...and that would be the easiest swap at the moment. im gonna wait on the 460 swap for awhile......i need to get it back on the road asap....also will it bolt onto my stock tranny? its a manual.

I've bought and sold parts from Pete's before. I'm a LONG way south of you though.
The 4.0 will BOLT in. The wiring is completely different though. You need the 4.0 engine harness and computer along with the motor.
When your 2.9 tranny takes a dump, replace it with an M5OD from the back of a 4.0. As well as the bigger clutch and the starter to go with it.

My Dad used to do all the land surveying in your area, He retired a few years ago though.

If you are going to do the 4.0 swap, PM me with your email addy and I can send you the wiring diagram I used to put a '91 Explorer 4.0/computer/harness into my '89 Ranger.

You'll like the 4.0

I've heard using a 90' model 4.0 will make the wiring a LOT easier than a late model.
