hi all, i have a question. just picked up an 88 ranger 2.9 v6 5 speed stick. my problem is when i fill the gas tank all the way, the gauge only registers half a tank. i know i can get 250 miles out of a tank, but i really want the gauge to work properly again. any input appreciated. thanks, matt

Well its either the gauge not getting enough voltage and will only read what the voltage is getting to it. (I think is how they work?)

Or the fuel sender in the tank is gunked up or going bad.

Hopefully its the first one because I believe they stopped making fuel tank stuff for the 83 - 88 models if i'm not mistaken.

 hmm, this is the 1st time I've heard that the sending units might not be available anymore.

I found some on advance auto's website so it looks like they might still be available.

But I would agree completely with Original Ranger on this one as far as diagnosing your problem. Somethings getting a bit weak.
