Well here are the 1st pictures of my install.

This install started out by 1st trimming roughly 3/16" off each side of the tailgate so it would fit. Next I took the latch pins off and installed the pins that the tailgate cables attach to into their holes. I then clipped the cables on the pins and placed the drivers side hinge in the tailgate and tried to put the tailgate in position. I then had to trim about 3/8" of the end of the hinge so the tailgate would fit between the tail lights. Once it was trimmed and the tailgate fit I placed in the closed position and lined up the body lines and then I marked placement of the hinge and took the tailgate off and drilled and mounted the hinge. These steps were completed again on the passenger side. I will get pictures of the hinges tomorrow and post.

Now for the fun part...I haven't figured out how I'm going to mount the latches yet. Once I come up with a plan I will post some pictures. If anyone wants to share how they mounted their latches I'm open to suggestions.

What would be really cool, is if you could mod the hatch so it had both. Kind of like the Volvo XC90's.

You could cut the hatch at the body line and have a split hatch. There are some pics on Broncoii.org

You could do sliding locks on the inside.

That's a good idea Country. I will add as an idea that has merit.

Sorry I didn't get the other pictures today but I'm behind the eight ball trying to get the BII ready for Clayton this weekend.

If you grafted the top corners of a Ranger bed I'd think you'd be able to mount the latches like on the truck. Seems like a lot of work, I don't know if it would be worth it.

Ok I have finally finished mounting a Ranger tailgate onto my BII! Now when summer rolls around I will be able to hang my half doors (keep eye out for upcoming post) and the tailgate and enjoy the weather. When I get to where I can afford a rollcage I will chop the top and run the tailgate all the time.

The above are from the drivers side.

These are from the passenger side.

On the above two pics you can see that I used two pieces of flat metal and then the square piece so I could space the latch out far enough so the tailgate would line up with the tail lights. The other pic is a small access hole I cut so I could get the washers and nuts onto the bolts holding the spacers on.

And of course the finished product.

Some of them did come with a split gate. I'm trying to find one for my B2 right now.

I'd like to see some pics too. I've got a rear opening glass.

I'd like to do this eventually.
