I have a 88 Bronco II, with delay wipers. my windshield wipers only work on high and do not return to park.

wiper motor?

wiper switch?

Module that clicks under dash (not relay)?

start with the relay.

Then the switch.

then the motor.

it is most likely the relay

Not return to park? Motor.

The "Relay" under the dash is the delay module.

All delay windshield wiper motors are "two stage" motors. They are pretty much two motors in one. If low doesn't work then you need a new motor. if it works in low, but all the delay speeds are the same speed as low, then it's a park switch in the motor and you might be able to fix it if you are willing to take the motor apart.

Ok found the module and replaced it with a junk yard one but it didn't work either. I just replaced the switch with a nonintermittent switch. Now at least i have two speeds and no random stopping. I'll just keep my eye open at the junk yard for another one with a delay module.

Thanks
Ren

Hate to bring an old thread back from the dead, but has anyone ever converted a 1st gen Ranger to intermittent wipers? My 87 only has 2 speeds and I'd sure like to have delay wipers. I have a junkyard nearby to pull anything necessary from.

The reason I posted in this thread is because there seems to be some knowledgeable folks in this thread.

Anyone? Beuller?

I'v never run across any 1st gen without delay wipers. The three 87s I have owned have all had it.

They all had a delay, a fast, and a super fast setting. For delay you move it up to the first click and then turn the end of the stalk down to set your delay.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
some dont have them. its a matter of getting the stalk, and black box and one jumper iirc.

My 87 definitely has no delay wipers. Just 2 speeds. Slow and slightly less slow.

I guess I'll just have to go to the salvage yard and pull the parts to convert my truck, and hope for the best.

I figured there would be a conversion thread somewhere but I haven't seen one yet.

Thanks guys.
