it appears my body had a few more defects than my Ranger and I,ve just spent the last month in a hospital bed in Toronto with the potential of several more in rehab....

they had to remove my lower right leg due to excessive tissue damage from a blood clot\aneurism and i need to go back in for s week or two next month...

So i've slowed things down on the Ranger for a while...

if you have any pain in your lower legs....get it checked out for clotting and blood flow...unless you like lying around in hospitals...

Well that's no good. Nope, no good at all.

I suppose you need an A4LD now, eh?

Sorry to hear about that Mark, hope people take your message to heart. In May I spent 11 days in the CICU, in two sessions. I had the numb feeling in the leg and they did a bypass on the bad veins. First they had to fix a abdominal aneurysm. Lost 35 lbs and a hell of a lot of strength. Get better!

I hope things go well for you. Every time I start to get down about my ailments I think about my friend that's in a wheelchair.
Stay positive and do lots of exercise.
Good luck,

Richard

Mark, get well soon, buddy. That rehab is gonna suck. We're thinking of you.

Which hospital are you at? You said a couple more weeks you'll be there?

Mark. one of the signs I learned latter about my problem (similar) was the loss of hair on the leg, thought it was from wearing jeans all Winter and way into our Spring. Worse night I had was at 1:10 when a lady down the hall had a bad reaction and yelled "Kill me, I don't care" for 20 minutes. I was tempted to introduce her to my pillow. Poor diet and lack of exercise is what causes a lot of those leg problems and the clotting.

Thank you again for the well wishes and prayers. It actually means plenty to me to have such an illustrious group in my corner.

I didn't post anything on this for a while due to the inherent nature of the follow up surgery that was needed. Arterial aneurisms in the abdomen are one of the trickiest to operate on and I only learned AFTER the surgery that my odds where 50/50 of survival. I had thought they were a little higher, like 80/20 and, apparently, that's what the doctor gave me in the last interview before the surgery.

So last week I went back into the hospital on Monday October 27th and on Tuesday October the 28th they did a pre-operation procedure to close off one afflicted artery at the bottom of the tree so they didn't have to deal with it after the main surgery. On October 29th they did the main surgery and I chose to have an epidural drip installed to help control the pain.

I woke up shortly after surgery in the usual state after such an ordeal: in pain, disoriented, and thirsty. They would not give me any liquids to drink due the risk of vomiting it up but managed to tease me with little sponge balls soaked in water...I could not get enough.

There were some really weird moments in the last 12 days since and I'd love to elaborate on them...but just wanted everyone to know that Phase II is complete and now I can get on with Phase III...and that is the fitting of a prosthetic (artificial) leg from above the knee.

There are some really spiffy legs available currently for a price...and I think I mentioned somewhere that the base line model is not bad...but kind of like you'd expect from a government funded group...real plain...but functional.
