I have a 1999 Ranger I built in 2003 with a (W427) 351 stroker and have about worn this out and need a tech refresh with something newer.
I have an opportunity to pick up a 2000 5.4 SVT complete engine and drivetrain with 38,000 miles on it and I was wondering if anyone has tried installing a F150 SVT Lighting (5.4 Supercharged) engine into a 2007-2009 Ranger with a 8.8 diff.
Any info is helpful as I am just starting my new challenge..

It has been done at least once that I can think of.

The thread is on here somewhere but I can't seem to find it at the moment.

Sorry to be so long to respond to my posting.
I gave up the Lightning engine swap effort when I realized the extra effort to match up electrical, engine size, new header design and soforth.
BTW, maybe I should have taken up the offer to buy the one that was offered before it was sold, but if you don't act quick sometimes you loose out.
Anyway, shortly after I lost out on the deal, my harmonic balancer (Ford motorsport brand) blew up and cracked taking out the keyway in my crankshaft. what a bitch!!!!
I Googled problems with them and it seems that Ford motorsport had contracted some Chinese company to make them and some were produced with bad material (nodular iron) I must have gotten some of the bad ones.
Anyone else have this problem???
Soooooo, I now am back to the old school setup, picking up my reworked block tomorrow and should be back on the road within a month.
I upped the ante with the following New specs that ought to make this machine be real crazy, as if it wasn't enough before:
Windsor 351 stroked and bored .060 over (SCAT Windsor 418 forged rotating crank assy 425ci)
- Forged 10.3:1 CR ICON pistons
- Forged H-Beam rods
- Pioneer SFI 18.1 rated balancer
- COMP Cam XE274H (274 int/.286 exh, .519/.523 lift)
- Holley 780 Street Advenger carb.
- TCI 3000 stall, locking converter
- Bullet proofed Ford AOD.
- 8.8 limited slip 3.55 rearend, 2 wheel Drive
- 275-60-15 rear, 255-60-15 front
Hope I can get this thing to hook up...............
