Clutch for turbo swap?!?

I have a 95 ranger with an m5od. Motor going in is 87 tbird 2.3 out of an automatic tbird. I'll be swapping ranger flywheel to the tbird 2.3 obviously lol I hope it fits. My issue is I need a cheap long life clutch and pressure plate kit that can handle the ~230hp I'll be throwing at it. So what will fit my trans/engine combo? Help me out!

Um, I don't think there's a "cheap long life 230hp clutch" for this application

Your best bet is going to be about $350 in parts I think (it's been 5 years since I bought mine...), get a stock replacement Centerforce friction disc, and their pressure plate with the weights. They don't have a kit with these two parts (or didn't 5 years ago). I've easily put this setup through 5 times the abuse than I did the NAPA clutch I had in it before that lasted a year...

So any clutch and pressure plate made for mid 80s svo's and late 80s tbird will fit with my 95 ranger trans and bolt to the 95 ranger flywheel right?

no, svo's and thirds used the T5 trans which is 10 spline. Ranger m5od is 23 spline. However I'm 99% sure a clutch from an xr4ti will fit the m5od since they used a (crappy) T9(?) trans which is also 23 spline. Flywheels will interchange but have yours turned. I run a banhof stg3 clutch in my 4x4 which has held up great so far and it was cheap at like $115 or so. I bought the kit with the new slave so it was more like $170.

Holy shit man thanks for the awesome reply! Do you think a stock organic material cheap clutch will transmit the tourque of a tbird 2.3? There are a few I found for ~90 pressure plate included!

hmm interesting, I may just try that one whenever the banhof clutch dies. The 6 puck clutch is very grabby/jerky in 2/4 low range lol.

So far, with about 2000 miles on it, the gripforce is still working out well. Maybe I need to lean on it harder. It builds heat very fast, and wants to engage quickly. Still spinning 30" tires with a 3.73 ratio with ease.
