Ron very helpful 2 yrs ago with my 89 2.9 4x4. 2 months it stumbled and codes said tps, again! The miles in 2 yrs less than 5k. Replaced tps and it ran great, redid suspension and exhaust, wonderful...until the other day when it died....again less than 400miles in last 2 months. The only way to start and get it back was to disconnect tps. Now I haven’t checked codes yet but just can’t believe the tps would be faulty again, that would be 3 in under 6k. Cel. Came on before it stopped and it has new distributor, computer, coil, relays good and fuel pressure correct. Suspect MPs but don’t know how to check. Please help wife says it’s gotta go takes too much time but can’t afford another and I NEED a truck.

Check the TPS voltage

Use a sewing needle and voltage meter set to 20volts DC
Ground the Meter's black probe
Use sewing needle to pierce the top wire on the TPS
Turn on the key
Top wire should read 5volts, 4.8-5.2 is OK

Pull out needle and pierce Middle TPS wire
test voltage, should be under 1volt, .69-.99v

If it is 4.5volts, or higher, then TPS is bad, and computer will turn off Fuel injectors so No Start.
The top and middle wires could be shorted together in the harness, so TPS is not the problem, so unplug the TPS connector and test the wires, if middle wire still shows 4.5v or higher then you will need to find that short
