hi yall.
im trying to figure out where to start troubleshooting.

on a friends 2001 exploder, the blower motor stopped working, so i pulled it and it tested good. put it back in and worked for a day.

couple days later he says dashboard smoked by ac control area and smelled of plastic.

ive been scouring the internet and forums for info on how to get in dashboard and if this is a known issue. aint found enough to begin diggin in dashboard.

does anyone have any suggestion on how i should proceed?

Check/replace the fan resistor.
I'd link the fan article from our Tech Articles page, but you can find that, top of every page...

Not unheard of to find burnt debris in a fan plenum, the resistor block can glow red without airflow, which is why it's located by that fan.
