I have visited this site several times for repair advice when working on my sons 93 Ranger 4 cyl. I appreciate the advice given, but need some advice now. My son has the truck and after destroying the clutch in about 20,000 miles I put in a new clutch, but noticed the check engine light and abs light came on after driving it for about 15 minutes. I stopped to try to get a code read but the autozone didn't have the reader for the 93. When it started up the lights did not come on, but returned about 10 minutes later. It drives fine and brakes good, the fluid level is good, and i can't find any leaks. I will check the connection to the sensor at the differential, he is coming home from the beach now and the lights came back on.

Any other help about what to check would be appreaciated.

moved this to general discussion..

You can check the codes yourself pretty easily with a small piece of wire or a paper clip and jumping two terminals on the diagnostic port and counting how many times the CEL blinks. The diagnostic port is in the engine bay. Heres a write-up on how to do that..

and a list of the codes..

My advice, remove the ABS bulb and be happy it doesn't work. Those old systems were pretty crappy.
