The time has come to replace the whole rear axle on my truck. It keeps blowing seals, and I think the bearings are going. He gears also have a lot of wear ( It was a farm truck before, and I can see where the axles and gear set have the paint dots from the local junk yard, so its been rebuilt at some point). I want to just replace the whole thing this time. What model years will direct swap? Specifically, will a newer axle fit without too much fuss? Its a 98 xlt 4x4 with the 7.3 gearset. Also, with everything off, I plan to replace the shackles and hangers since one already broke and the other looks just as rusty. I figure its a good time to replace the springs too. Anyone South Alabama know a good place to get them rebuilt? Thanks
