I have a 87 ranger 4x4, model stx, regular cab, 6 foot box, 5 speed transmission, and 2.9 liter engine... I'm having a hard time finding a used cardan cv rear driveshaft for my 87 ranger 4x4... does anyone know if there is a regular style 2 u joint driveshaft that will work, to replace my ranger's cardan cv rear driveshaft... if there is a way to do this, I'm assuming I'll have to change the flange bracket, on my transfer case ouput splined shaft, to match a regular style flange bracket, on a replacement driveshaft...

Yes it can be done. You will need to change the flanges only if you get the shaft from a newer year truck.
