im probably going to get flamed for asking this but i couldnt find any other threads on it, what does it mean and i cant get it to go away, i obviously checkd my oil as soon as it came on and it was normal, i just had an oil change about 1500miles ago and my oil temp, and pressure gage seem to be functioning right but how can i make this light go away and waht could be causing this?? and i would like to get it off cuz i hate when my dash is light up like a damn christmas tree

There's a seperate sensor screwed into the side of the oil pan.

Ther's actually a kind of float in a cage inside the sensor.

the sensors are as reliable as gravity, if you ignore the fact that the
gasket that seals them tends to leak...

what isn't so reliable is the insulation on the wire.

I'd either expect to find that the wire is chaffed and grounded somewhere
OR the wire is broken off and shorted to ground

OR the wire is "pinched" by something that's bolted to the engine.

OR the Low Oil Level Relay (which is burried somewhere in the dash)
is faulty
