Next question is why do you want to switch to something else? There are a couple of other options but the M5OD is the best option, if you don't like the long throw (I don't find it that long, but some do, I've been driving mine for 19 years though...) there is a Hurst shifter for it.

So, back to the topic. What's wrong with your m50d-r1? They generally seem to be pretty good for these trucks and I believe rebuild parts are available. Do you want something different just for fun? Is there a particular transmission you want?when switching, you have to consider bellhousing, bolt pattern, overall length, etc. Longer or shorter transmissions may require a different length drive shaft.

Went back with another model out of a 94 ranger. Thankyou so much for your help. My problem was that I didn't know the first thing about rangers. Still don't know much but a lot more than I did. This truck's been my daily driver for almost 9 years.
